2002 Girls Developmental State Team
REGION 2 - Developmental Camp
July 16th - 19th, 2014 - Rockford Illinois (there will be no use of the DeKalb Facility this year for girls)
Head Coach - Joe Kofron (Email)
Coach Kofron was born and raised in St. Louis but moved to Springfield, MO in 1997. He attended Vianney High School where he was a part of two State Championship teams and received the Adidas and Parade Magazine All-America team recognition. He played for Busch Gardens Soccer Club before heading off to the University of Evansville. His college team reached the NCAA Division I playoffs all four of his years with their best finish in 1985 making the Final Four and being ranked #1 in the final Polls. He was also an Academic All-American while playing for the Purple Aces.
He then went on to Dental School at UMKC and completed four years in the United States Navy following school. After returning back to St. Louis for a year he bought a Dental Practice in Nixa, MO. He started immediately as a volunteer coach with Drury University Men's Soccer program and continued to do so for four years until moving into the Club Soccer scene when he began Tracker Soccer Club. Tracker merged with two other clubs and is now Springfield Soccer Club where Joe was the President for the last 9 years. He also started the Boys High School program at Springfield Catholic H.S. and coached there for four years while they reached the State semi-finals one year and the Finals two years. He presently coaches the Springfield Soccer Club's U12 Girls and U18 Girls teams.
Joe has been married to his wife, Anne, for 21 years and has four children, Nick 20, Hannah 17, Joe 15, and Amy 12. This is his first year helping with the ODP system and is looking forward to coaching multiple players from all around the state. Coach Kofron currently holds a USSF National 'D' License.
Assistant Coach - Kelly Caldwell
Coach Caldwell has played in many different states growing up. She attended Norwalk High School in Ohio where she was a three-time letter winner and was named all district honorable mention, team captain, and Team Midfielder of the Year. She played for clubs the Decatur (Ala) Raptors and PSA Cleveland United. Decatur Raptors came in Second place at state. With Cleveland United she led her team to two runners up medals at State Cup. She also led them to two MRL title 1st place winners in their division. After club ball Kelly went to Missouri State University where she played all four years at the NCAA Division 1 level.
Spring of 2013 Coach Caldwell graduated with a major in Fashion Merchandising with an emphasis in Product Development and Marketing. She currently is working at the Bass Pro Shops Headquarters in Springfield, MO. Coach Caldwell helped coach and train in 2012 the WC St. Louis girls teams U15 and U16. She presently coaches the Springfield Soccer Club’s YA girls and U15 girls. She also coaches the Lake Country U13/14 girls and the HSG U15-18.
Coach Kelly currently holds a USSF National ‘D’ License and is excited to coach talented players from around the state.
